Busted Lip and a Road Trip

Busted Lips

Barrett pulled a table onto himself Thursday night before bible class.  It was one of those moments that you get to watch happen in slow motion and know there is nothing you can do to stop it from happening.  Even worse, I had just turned around to tell him to get down off the table or it was going to fall on him!  So, after what eye witnesses called "Sarah going wonder woman on the table" I scooped him up could tell really quickly we were going to have to find an ER.  Luckily, there was a great emergency room down the street from the church so Nina and I headed over there to get his lip sewn back on.

All my boys have fallen and bitten through their lips at some point.  You wash it  out and keep close watch but usually by morning it has almost healed up because our bodies are awesome.  But this time, I could tell from the moment I looked down at it that it was bad.  He ended up needing three stitches on the inside and five on the outside.

Road Trips

After getting home from the E.R., Nina and I got about four hours sleep and then headed off for Searcy, Arkansas where she will be starting her Freshman year at Harding University.  It was a really great drive up there with lots of talking and of course, singing.  But the drive back was very quiet and lonely.  Mostly, because I know I won't be seeing this special young lady for four months.  A lot of people ask me if I want a girl and deep down I know the answer is "yes."  I think as a woman you have certain things you want to pass on and well, while I know I can teach my boys just about anything, it does not mean they would care about it like a girl would.  Having Nina in my life has been an answered prayer for a girl.  I joke around that we got to skip those awkward teenage years and got to go straight the friends part.

The boys made signs for her.
We had just made it through Houston a.m. traffic and found a coffee in Cleveland, Texas.

After coffee.  We had just pulled up to Harding.  Sniff, Sniff, it our last selfie for awhile.

Have a great year Nina!!!!
